October 2003 to Present - Pro Plus, Inc.
Principal Piping Designer: Responsibilities include pipe routing, layout, detailing of site and facilities, material take off and field investigations as required. Also responsible for the design of various skids (slug-catchers, launchers and receivers, regulating and metering stations) and updating existing sites to an As-Built status. Also design related structural requirements including material take-off.

1999 to October 2003 - Pipeline Engineering and Technology Corporation
Principal Piping Designer: ATS/EMS/PETC - Through work sharing, mergers and buy-outs, ended up working for Pipeline Engineering and Technology Corp. (PETC). Providing Engineering Services for Gas Transmission Clients.

My duties were being responsible for the piping department, scheduling projects, manhours, directing designers/drafting personnel on their tasks, pipe routing, and layout, Skid design, material takeoff and detailing of site or facilities and field investigations. Also development of piping standards and details for various Clients. Worked also in the Pipeline Mapping Department as needed.


March 1999 to November 1999 - S&B Engineering/Conoco, Lake Charles, LA
Responsible for the pipe routing/design, layout of level bridles and platforms of the Stripper & Crude Towers. Checking piping plans and isometrics in the Tank Farm, Pumping & Transfer, and Diesel Transfer Areas.

March 1998 to March 1999 - S&B Engineering/Texas Eastman - Longview, TX
Providing Engineering support for multi-contracts. Responsible for doing preliminary and detailed layouts, field surveying as to where tie-ins will be made, locating new equipment and piping for installation. Pulling information together to help the estimators with the bid packages preparation.

June 1997 to March 1998 - Flour Daniel/Oxy-Luling, Luling, LA
Working supervisor responsible for layouts of the crude unit revamp and expansion. Checking and guiding others in their design and work. Dealing with the Client and the other departments in resolving design goals and conflicts. Also responsible for day-to-day procedure and schedule changes as was required.

September 1996 to June 1997 - Flour Daniel/Amoco, Trindad
This was an Offshore Gas Production Platform. Duties included the layout of the Gas Manifolds from the well heads, routing all vent headers to the flares, establishing and routing the pipe rack, checking PDS isometrics, layout of the fire protection system, and some of the drainage system. Plus doing Model review in PDS and checking for interferences.

1994 to 1997 - Flour Daniel/Muti-Task Force
Task Force Group was responsible in doing revamps on smaller type projects. At times we would be working on six different projects at a time. Duties were piping design work for the projects, including supervision of piping designers and draftsmen, preparation of the equipment location plans, plot plans, piping drawings, materials control, estimates and construction support both in the office, fabrication shop and job site. I had field assignments throughout the US and the country of Columbia.

March 1993 to 1994 - Flour Daniel/Hoechst Celanese, Clear Lake, LA
Responsible for preliminary engineering design services and bid packages for environmental upgrades to meet and exceed EPA Requirements. Heavy involvement in P&ID field verification on a methanol unit start-up and coordinating with CADD on updating changes. Also field surveying with tie-in and demolition packages.

1992 to 1993 - Flour Daniel/Enron, Manila, Philippines
Field assignment in Manila. Responsible for checking layouts, isometrics, vendor drawings of air cooler building and heavy and light oil storage units.

1992 - Flour Daniel/Coastal Aruba Project
Field assignment for a refinery upgrade and start-up in Aruba. P&ID field verification of existing piping and equipment. This was a fast track estimate, bid packages with preliminary engineering, sketches and layouts.

1990 to 1992 - Flour Daniel/Marathon Oil Corporation
Responsible for supplying Marathon Oil with engineering services as needed throughout the United States. Duties included field studies and surveying, preliminary layouts, bid packages, demo packages, layouts, design and final checking stages, and CADD support as needed. The Marathon projects worked on were: Texas City, Texas, marine loading emissions reduction, boiler house upgrades; Indianapolis, Indiana, fuel oil system revamp, H&I line tracing, LPG facility upgrade, LCO flushing system revamp and multi-bid packages; Robinson, Illinois, special coker revamp; Detroit, Michigan, unifier expansion.

1991 and 1993 - Flour Daniel/Amoco, Saudi Arabia
Field assignments in Saudi Arabia. Responsible for the layout and design of the hot oil reboiler modification unit. Responsible for preliminary design, layout and P&ID review of the desaltilization unit. Supervising workers in their design. Gas Plant Project doing engineering support for the office and the field. Verifying hydo-testing, fabrication and P&ID sign-off packages.

1990 - Flour Daniel/Himont “Catalloy”, Bay City, TX
Assignment in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Word Industries. Responsibilities were to assist the engineering department to produce spool drawings from Fluor Daniel’s isometric drawings and to resolve all engineering problems. This resulted in working with the client, fabrication shop and engineering group to meet all schedules.

1988 to 1990 - Flour Daniel/Soltex Polymer Corporation, Deer Park, TX
Worked on site as the Fluor Daniel representative. This involved resolving present and future interference problems and scope changes between construction (Brown and Root), the designer (Fluor Daniel) and the client (Soltex).

1980 to 1988 - Designer, Brown & Root, Houston, TX
Was a Piping Designer doing flowsheets, layouts, design, isometrics, and material take-off. Also R&D on the various computer systems at that time. Projects worked on as follows:

  • 1973 to 1980 - Kentron, Hawaii & PAN-AM (NASA), Houston TX
    Facility management contract for NASA with both contractors Kentron and Pan-Am. Doing revamps to existing site facilities. Keeping “As-Built” documents up to date with lots of fieldwork. Dealing directly with NASA management on work assignments and supervising employees in their work.
